Vertical Communications Announces Immediate Availability of Wave
IP 2500™
Integrated Portfolio of Business Communications Applications on Next-Generation
IP PBX Delivers Unprecedented Value, Ease of Management and Lower Total
Cost of Ownership
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Oct 22, 2007)
-- Vertical Communications (VRCC.OB) (“Vertical”), a leading provider
of next-generation, IP-based phone systems and applications that help
businesses better serve their customers, today announced general availability
of the Vertical Wave IP 2500™ Business Communications Solution, the
industry’s first comprehensive IP PBX with the unique Applications Inside™
architecture. Cost-sensitive small- to medium-sized businesses and larger
distributed organizations seeking to reduce overhead associated with
managing business communications can easily transform their legacy telephony
infrastructure into an applications-rich, next-generation IP platform
by implementing Wave.
Sunrise Elementary School located in DeSoto, Missouri, selected Wave
IP 2500 because of its highly integrated voice communication, paging
and call accounting capabilities. “Wave has delivered on all the cost-saving
and productivity enhancing advantages that we require,” said Clay Whitener,
superintendent of Sunrise School District. “Wave’s features-to-price
ratio, combined with its ability to address multiple application requirements
on a single, easy-to-manage platform, has reduced the district’s capital
expenditures by eliminating the need to purchase third-party paging,
voicemail, call accounting and call recording systems.”
“High-value business applications are driving the move to voice-over-IP
(“VoIP”) communications, but many organizations are struggling with
the complexity and costs of integrating so many third-party software
and hardware components,” said Bill Tauscher, chief executive officer
of Vertical Communications. “Wave’s unique Applications Inside™ architecture
changes the game by embedding a robust portfolio of the most in-demand
business communications applications – unified communications, call
recording, presence management, visual voicemail and more – within a
powerful next-generation IP PBX. Because Wave offers a consistent user
experience across applications, there’s virtually no learning curve,
and customers gain outstanding return-on-investment and lower total
cost of ownership.”
“As a Wave dealer, it’s great to be able to offer my customers such
an extensive portfolio of value-added applications,” said Keith Petty,
president of Farmington, Missouri-based Midcom Technologies, LLC, a
Certified Wave Business Partner. “The advanced feature set of the core
Wave IP PBX, coupled with so many applications in one system, makes
it a powerful solution for my customers.”
Based on its experience with Wave IP 2500, NextGen Technology Group,
an independent consortium of telecommunications solutions integrators
formed to help businesses make the transition to IP, selected Vertical
Communications as its Preferred Provider of IP Telephony & Applications.
“Our members evaluated many other IP-PBX platforms to lead with, but
no other product comes close to what Wave IP 2500 offers in terms of
its Applications Inside architecture, it’s flexibility, and the investment
protection it provides for a variety of endpoints; analog, digital,
and SIP,” said Clyde Zimmerman, co-founder of NextGen Technology Group.
The Only IP PBX with Applications Inside™
Next-generation ‘Base’ applications available as a part of this initial
release of the Wave system provide immediate productivity benefits to
customers. Base applications include the award-winning ViewPoint™ desktop
call management tool, which also offers unified communications, presence
management, visual voicemail and call recording capabilities. Features
include:
Desktop Call Management: Users can manage calls through an intuitive
point-and-click interface, making it easy to place calls, transfer
calls, connect several people in a conference, and more.
Unified Messaging: Users can manage voicemail messages at the desktop,
so messages can be saved and forwarded as needed.
Presence Management: Users can easily see which of their colleagues
are available, on the phone, or away before calling or transferring
calls.
Visual Voicemail: Users can listen to messages in any order, add
text notes to a message, bookmark an important section of a message,
and forward that message, along with notes and bookmarks, to other
Wave users.
Call Recording: Normally an expensive third-party option, Call Recording
lets users record calls for compliance, customer service and training
purposes.
Beginning later this quarter, Vertical will release a number of optional
‘Add-on’ applications for the Wave system. Eliminating the need for
costly forklift upgrades with additional servers and greatly simplifying
administration, these ‘on demand’ applications help businesses improve
customer service and streamline operations by adding conferencing, contact
center, integrated faxing, and self-service interactive voice response
(“IVR”) applications. ‘Add-on’ applications will include a free 30-day
trial license so organizations can try each application prior to purchasing.
Robust Remote Management Tools
Another Base application available now with Wave IP 2500, Wave Global
Administrator is a powerful Web-based management tool that makes it
easy to manage moves, adds and changes (“MAC’s”) while providing extensive
proactive diagnostic capabilities. Optional Add-on Wave management tools
also available now include Wave Global Manager, an advanced multi-site
management tool that facilitates automation of system administration
tasks, and Wave Global Reporter, which offers an array of detailed call
activity reporting and business intelligence capabilities.
Modular Design Eliminates Costly Future Upgrades
Wave IP 2500 incorporates advanced dual-processor architecture for support
of embedded session initiation protocol (“SIP”)-based call control as
well as application services. Wave offers support for both SIP and legacy
endpoints and trunking. An embedded voice gateway supports a mixed environment,
thereby allowing customers to migrate from TDM to all-IP environments
at their own pace. Wave IP 2500 facilitates cost-effective business
growth by eliminating both forklift upgrades and the need for additional
servers when adding users and applications. Scalable from 10 to 500
users on one system and with the ability to support thousands of users
by networking locations, Wave provides customers with the flexibility
to support users regardless of where they're working - at headquarters,
in a branch office, at home or on the road.
Cost Savings and Enhanced Functionality through SIP Communications
In addition to the cost-savings offered by Wave IP 2500's modular design,
Applications Inside™ architecture and feature set, customers can further
reduce communications costs and enhance business communications through
SIP communications. Offered through a number of Wave-certified SIP carriers,
including BandTel, SimpleSignal, Quantum Voice, and CBeyond, SIP connectivity
offers significant reduction in calling costs, whether long distance,
site-to-site calling, DIDs or other enhanced services. In addition,
SIP services can be provisioned quickly and in smaller increments than
services traditionally offered from analog and digital providers. Consolidated
billing services further simplify communications management for customers.
A list of Wave-certified SIP carriers can be found at http://www.vertical.com/partners-itsp.html.
Extensive Endpoint Support
To provide optimal business flexibility, Wave IP 2500 is designed to
support a broad array of Vertical-branded SIP and digital phones, as
well as many third-party IP, analog, wireless and soft phones. Importantly,
a large percentage of Vertical's large installed base of an estimated
200,000 customers will be provided significant investment protection
through a low-cost migration path to Wave by virtue of the fact that
many Vertical Comdial® digital endpoints are supported on Wave IP 2500
today, with support for many Vertical Vodavi® digital endpoints planned
for the first quarter of 2008. Wave enables customers to leverage existing
legacy handsets and migrate to IP over time as they are ready, all the
while leveraging Wave's portfolio of communications applications.
Availability
Wave IP 2500 is available for purchase in North America through Vertical’s
network of Certified Wave Business Partners. Wave customers may elect
to receive automatic upgrades to new software features and enhancements
through the Vertical Wave Subscription Program. Wave is expected to
be available through Certified Wave Business Partners in Central and
South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa in the first half of 2008.
