1929 and 2008, Differences to Consider
Posted by Ben B.Boothe
1929In 1929, after a period of deregulation and free money and almost unlimited speculation and growth, a few banks began to experience losses and liquidity problems. That was very similar to 2008.But, when the banking system needed liquidity the most, the Hoover Administration, and the leaders on Wall Street, actually took steps to allow banks to fail. Money supply was actually tightened. That was in 1929.

Posted by Ben B.Boothe
U.S. House and SenateThe Senate and the House of Representatives voted on H.R. 6049, which contained an Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for small wind systems, an extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) for large turbines, and other legislation benefiting renewable energy. The bill overwhelmingly passed the Senate with a vote of 93 – 2 and passed in the House. This was the last opportunity this year for Congress to pass this legislation. The bill includes an eight-year, 30% credit on the installed cost of a small wind turbine, capped at $4,000 for residential and commercial applications. Small wind is defined as turbines with rated capacities of 100 kilowatts and less.

John Cornyn keeps his promise to support wind
Posted by Ben B.Boothe
Senator John CornynOnly 3 weeks ago, before an audience of 500 business leaders, at the powerful Fort Worth Petroleum Club, Senator John Cornyn, said: "We will pass the Alternative Energy Bill, as soon as I return to the session". He was speaking before an audience who knew that Wind Energy is a $7,000,000.00 a year industry in Texas, and the fastest growing industry in Texas. The bill offers tax advantages to those who invest in alternative energy and try to encourage new "clean" sources of renewable power.A week later, to everyone's surprize, Senator John Cornyn opposed the bill as it went to the House, because he didn't like language about "offshore drilling" in the bill.

Directors of two Holland wind turbine manufacturing companies visit Texas
Posted by Ben B.Boothe
The Director of WES Canada, (Wind Energy Solutions, Netherland), Johann De Leeuw is flying to Texas for the Grand Opening and Open House of WIND Inc., a company formed by Ben B. Boothe Sr., to distribute wind turbines. Johann will speak on "Wind Trends" in Europe, Canada, and Texas, at 8400 I-20 (Aledo exit, on eastbound lane), at 3:00 PM, September 8th. All interested in Wind Turbines are invited to attend, and refreshments will be served. The Director of SWEA, Mari Van Heijden, will arrive August 28th, and will meet important VIP's and businessmen interested in Wind. Senator Lucio will present him with a gavel from the State of Texas, to honor his achievements in wind technology. Mari Van Heijden, developed a system in Holland, whereby a wind turbine could be connected to any standard electrical outlet plug of a residence, thus eliminating the need for electrical permits from large power companies, or special expense. His products are sold world wide, and Boothe's WIND INC., is distributing these turbines in the USA.WES (Netherlands) builds a larger wind turbine, more suitable for business and industry. "Boeing just powered a new industrial plant in England with our WES 250 kW model" said Johann De Leeuw. These wind turbines are also equipped with back up diesel generators, so if the grid goes down, and winds rest, the units can still provide a stable supply of electricity.

Texas rail road commission and environmental agencies give oil and gas companies legal advantages
Posted by Ben B.Boothe
In Ranger Texas, Jay Marcom's ranch is a good example of how Texas laws and regulations favor oil and gas companies. There, Jay Marcom has documented water so polluted by a leaky natural gas pipeline, that the water is flamable. Marcom showed test results indicating the water has benzene, xylene, and toluene, all linked to cancer in humans. But his attempts to get Texas regulatory agencies to fix the problem, has been a multi-year effort in frustration. The regulators talk, and give rhetroric, but after years of effort, the problem still exists. As any oil man will tell you. Texas law favors oil and gas companies, over consumers. Big money rules Texas regulatory agencies, and rarely does a regulator come forward and really risk his career to try to inforce NEPA or national enviornmental guidelines.

One of the most encouraging trends has been the impact of environmental economics, as a way of rebuilding economic foundations. For example, Ethanol and Bio-Diesel, have been a leader, in saving and increasing farm income, and restoring the economies of small towns, and heartland America. These industries are bringing capital, jobs, and renewal to every sector, throughout the world, where they are active.
