About NACA
NACA® was organized in 1976 by a group
of highly qualified catastrophe adjusters. The association is dedicated to
improving professional standards, insuring working relations with one
another and promoting the general welfare of the individual members.
The association has grown over the years
and presently has a total of 381 members (249 General, 38 Associate, 43
Apprentice and 51 Business Associate.) Members are located throughout the United
States, Canada, and Venezuela. Most are available to insurance companies, self
insured's or adjusting firms on an individual basis for the purpose of adjusting
catastrophic losses.
Our Mission is to provide a
professional organization focused on excellence in catastrophe insurance
adjusting for members through education, shared resources, and technology.
Message From the President...
Are You Ready for Hurricane Season?
If you haven’t made preparations already, don’t wait another day!
Update all your contact information
Make sure that everyone who “needs to know” has your most current phone, fax and e-mail
Check and double check your vehicle
Tires
Battery
Oil
Check and double check all of your equipment
Cameras
Ladders
Measuring Tools
Flashlights
Weather radios
Replace or recharge all your batteries
Update your computer, printer and drivers
Check with your software supplier(s) to see if you have the latest,
most up-to-date version of your estimating software and pricing databases
Even though computers are very reliable, things like power surges,
viruses, theft, loss, or a natural disaster can bring your estimating
to a crashing halt. You can not only lose your work, but you will
cost yourself and your clients’ valuable time and money.
As responsible computer uses, you have to implement a system
to back up all the data files on your computer “just in case”.
Always plan for a hard drive crash and make sure you’re covered if it happens.
There are several ways to “back up” your data.
Use simple backup media
USB thumbdrives
Burnable CD’s or DVD’s
Use back-up software
This is a risk free solution. You will need an application software program that
lets you copy your entire PC hard drive with all your data and settings intact.
I recommend checking out
PCMag.com’s “Software Backup Reviews” for suggestions that fit your needs
Use a portable or external hard drive
Use an on-line Back Up Service
Once you have selected the method you will use:
Perform a full backup at least once a week.
Backup any critical data daily to a removable device.
Test your ability to restore your files at least quarterly.
In other words, make sure the backup systems really work
Store your backup’s offsite – far enough away so a disaster
won’t strike both locations. You can also keep a full backup copy onsite.
Good luck! I hope the upcoming season is profitable for everyone.

A new employment page has been added to the NACA Website.
The executive board views our website as a tool. The Association is in no way promoting any
individual or company. As in any business relationship, it is the responsibility of the
persons entering into the relationship to check references and resources. The excitement
of a new opportunity may sink quickly if all the benefits and responsibilities are not
agreed to up front. Please take the time to review any agreement and be sure it fits your
particular need. The old saying Know before you go is wisdom sometimes overlooked.
NACA Mentor Progam
Are you a new adjuster wanting to learn the skills needed to be successful?
Are you a seasoned adjuster wanting to pass on the lessons you have learned?
Check out the NACA Mentoring Program, you may find exactly what you are looking for.
