Description Ferric Chloride solution is a versatile chemical with a variaty of uses such as an ETCHANT for PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS and as a coagulant for WASTE WATER TREATMENT. Etching and metal engraving Ferric Chloride solution is used as an ETCHANT in PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS as well as ENGRAVING. This is because it acts as an excellent etchant for most metals like copper, aluminium, stainless steel, etc. The vast usage of Ferric Chloride solution is due to its fast reaction, high etching capacity and easy application Waste water treatment Ferric Chloride acts as a very effective coagulant-flocculant which is used alone or with other chemicals. It has the ability to coagulate over a very wide pH range, making it a more useful tool in many instances as compared to other chemicals. Storage and Handling Ferric Chloride is corrosive to many materials but with proper handling and storage, there will not be any potential problems. For storage, steel tanks lined with rubber, or fibreglass reinforced polyester tanks are acceptable. The exterior surface of the tanks which may be exposed to accidental splash should be protected with corrosion resistant paint or rubber mats. The handling equipment like pipes, pumps and valves should be lined with polyvinyl chloride, rubber, glass, or ceramic materials.
