Editor's Note The 2008 Finance Act has produced some of the most complex tax legislation of the decade. Huge last minute changes were made as the government struggled to create some meaningful new rules for non-domiciled individuals and the remittance basis. It seems that 'crunch-time' for many of us in practice will come when we attempt to explain these to clients. Happily, help is at hand, in our special feature this week, the 'horribly complicated' issue of tax on share options for the internationally mobile employee is considered - in detail, with examples. Trying to complete an SA return these days without this sort of guidance is virtually an impossibility for both client and adviser.Share options aside, it is slightly easier to explain to clients what a car is for capital allowances, or is it? Rebecca Benneyworth considers this problem in relation to the AIA this week.As the 31 October filing deadline approaches for paper SA returns, it is worth considering what happens when you file a return out of office hours.
