Background ZX Series
WHY THE NEED FOR ZX?
As crime becomes more and more sophisticated, so must the ways of foiling
it. Anyone who has invested heavily in a vehicle asset needs to protect that
investment, of course, but to protect it far further than the range of
choices which criminals have available to them. There is no point in being
the weak link in the crime chain. Hence - the Sanji Intellica ZX Pro Series.
Arguably now the most advanced alarm / immobilizer in the world, the ZX
Series is a culmination of years of research by Sanji engineers - utilising
the very latest techniques available to date. The ZX Series is manufactured
to the highest International ISO9001 Quality Standards. Each unit has to
pass its own series of stringent quality control tests in order to get the
exemplary ZX stamp of approval. The ZX Series represents the extreme cutting
edge in vehicle security design. The ZX Series may have an overwhelming
degree of capabilities but the best part about it is that the car owner
finds it easy to understand while the criminal is baffled. The stylish,
ergonomically designed remote control is a design masterpiece all of its
own. Sanji have utilised super-hi tech materials to transform what used to
be a dull black box-remote into this revolutionary combination of design
aesthetics and crafted functionality for the user. The remote is now the
communication link between the driver and the ZX system's brain. The remote
is so intelligent that it can and does scramble all communications, to make
any duplication or interception impossible by even the most accomplished car
thief.
THE ADVANCED BRAIN
Intelligence is a matter of thinking and Sanji do this exceptionally well -
thinking of the best car protection systems for each situation out-thinking
criminals. In the area of hi-tech security you can always leave the thinking
to Sanji. Before you even get into your car, you are warned of any violation
to your vehicle by a series of coded beeps on the siren. At any time you can
go to your local Sanji-approved fitment centre and have the memory read out
and, with their help, take the appropriate action required. The ZX Series is
so intelligent that it will even shut down and warn you if its outputs are
shorted or damaged. But then, isn't this what you would expect from an
intelligent alarm / immobilizer?
ANTI-HIJACK
Every day countless cars are hijacked. The ZX Series anti hi jack facility
immobilizes your vehicle if it is forcibly taken from you. The siren
immediately sounds a warning and indicators flash, informing the hijacker
that the car will immobilize after 90 seconds. The ZX Series offers
driver-door or automatic passive arming hijack, both programmable to suit
your own requirements, with advice from your fitment centre. This system
even gives you personal safety and protection outside your car. If you are
attacked, your transmitter becomes a panic button. The ZX Series protects
you by using its formidable electronic brain. If any doors, bonnet or boot
aren't properly closed, it will alert you. Before you start, it will check
and lock your doors automatically.
THE NICKY SIREN
This little water-proof device is really tiny and so easy to conceal in the
crammed engine compartments of today's vehicles. But it also makes a huge
noise - to create enough attention to scare the attackers away. We know that
dynamite comes in small packages but you have to hear the Nicky siren for
yourself.
COMFORT CONTROL
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to open your boot, close your windows, to
unlock the driver's door, selectively and separately from the passenger
doors, or to be able to program user features - all from your hand remote?
You can - with the ZX Range. You can even program the system to remove the
set and reset chirps - all from the hand control. These convenience options
may require additional modules and we suggest you consult your Sanji
approved fitment centre for the best option for you.
SECURE SENSING
Aren't we tired of hearing vehicle alarms blaring for no apparent reason?
They are extremely irritating and they intensify our noise pollution but,
far worse when the day comes that you need to be alerted, you probably
wouldn't take an alarm like that seriously. At Sanji we take this matter
very seriously. So that's why we developed the super miniature ES250
ultrasonic sensor. The sensor works like an internal radar system,
continuously sending and receiving information about your vehicle's
interior. After careful analysis of the received data, the ES250 makes a
decision to activate the alarm or reject the data in the case of common air
disturbance. The ES250 sensor is so advanced that a patent on its electronic
design has just been granted.
PERSONAL USER PIN-CODE
Under normal circumstances, you would de-activate this system by activating
the remote control. However, if the battery in the remote should ever go
flat, you can enter your 5-digit pin-code via a sequence on the ignition
switch, in order to override the system temporarily. This process will allow
you to drive the vehicle and avoid a very embarrassing situation. Each ZX
Series system is supplied with its unique pin code credit card that displays
your personal user pin code.
ANTI KEY THEFT
Now that general vehicle security systems have become so advanced and
effective, car thieves are turning to easier ways of getting what they want.
Key theft or key duplication is the latest international method used by car
syndicates so that they get the vehicle intact without having to tamper with
sophisticated electronics. To render this latest trend in criminal activity
useless, Sanji have developed an optional user-identification keypad that
interfaces with the whole ZX Series of alarm and immobilizer systems. This
means that even if someone has your keys, your vehicle cannot be driven
unless your own unique pin code is entered into the keypad. To make this
feature truly easy to use, Sanji have incorporated automatic backlighting of
the keypad interface.
The design development of auto-alarms and immobilizers has always been the
area where Sanji have led the way into the future. We have every intention
and commitment to keeping it that way.
Background ZX40-KP
These days vehicle thieves are not
deterred by highly sophisticated built in security and tracking systems. To
get the vehicle the thieves are reverting to stealing the keys. By the time
the owner realizes that the keys are missing the vehicle is already off the
radar screen and ready to be stripped for parts, or given a new identity
across borders.
To address this growing problem
Sanji have developed the ZX40-KP keypad immobilizer that requires the driver
to enter a personal pin code before the vehicle can be driven. The ZX40-KP
keypad immobilizer has anti-tamper coding and will lock out if it detects
that the pin combinations are being tampered with. The driver is given
audible feedback from the keypad via a built in beeper.
An auto back light facility
illuminates the keypad at night making it very easy for the driver to enter
his pin code. A secure service mode is provided for vehicle service.
The user pin code can be changed at
any time by the driver and Anti Hi-Jack facility can be programmed via the
keypad for vehicles in high risk areas. As added security a siren will sound
when the unit is tampered with or when the unit is in Hi-Jack mode.
The ZX40-KP keypad immobilizer is
SAIA Insurance Approved, is very affordable and can be installed into most
vehicles.
Convert factory keyless entry remote to a
full alarm system with anti hi-jack

Background EPS4000
Need help - Getting in and out of a tight spot?
The EPS Park Distance Control PDC is the answer to parking a car in any restrictive space.
The EPS PDC system means that you can park your car neatly and quickly - without
fear of damage to your car because of obstacles which are not visible from
your driving position. You don't want to touch other cars, kerbs, posts, and
certainly not any small child behind the car. The EPS4000 would warn you. To
ensure complete protection, the sensor detection area extends along the
entire length of the bumper. A beeper inside the car provides your warning.
The warning beeps get faster as the car approaches obstacles. Due to recent
advances in the technology of the EPS4000 PDC system, the electronic device can
now be fitted to any car and be perfectly colour coded to the vehicles
bumper. A small device like this will prove to be a very valuable asset to
your car, protecting your car's body and paintwork during difficult parking maneuvers. With the trend for new vehicles to be designed aerodynamically -
to obtain extra speed and reduce fuel consumption there is often worse rear
visibility. Drivers are experiencing more difficulty when they reverse into
small spots. The EPS4000 Parking Sensor PDC is an advanced design that uses high
frequency ultrasonic waves, a device that is economically functional, and
which is absolutely safe and efficient. The sensor mounting consists of an
electronic control unit, 4 bumper sensors an acoustic sounder and optional
visual display unit. The electronic control unit is placed in the boot area
and it is connected to the vehicle's reverse light with just 2 wire
connections. The advantage of the EPS4000 system, compared with other
systems on the market, is the low cost and the simplicity of fitting the
unit. It is very compact and can easily be installed in the bumper/fender.
HOW THE EPS SYSTEM WORKS
Engaging the reverse gear activates the electronic control unit. At the same
time this creates a protective zone around the bumper. An acoustic signal is
emitted when any obstacle comes into the controlled area behind the car. The
warning beeps get faster as the distance to the obstacle is reduced - so
that a collision can be avoided. The EPS4000 PDC can be programmed at point of
fit to accommodate vehicles that have a stationary object in front of the
bumper/fender, like a tow bar or a spare tyre, so that it would not activate
the signal and would have no influence on the normal operation of the
device.
IRX550 REMOTE EXTENDER

The Sanji IRX550 Remote Extender allows the user to control infrared line of
sight electronic equipment from one room to another with ease. It can be
used to change tracks on a CD player, lower or raise the temperature on an
air conditioning unit or change channels on a television - all from up to
100 meters away.
The system comprises of a receiver and transmitter unit with aerials which
receive IR signals from an existing remote control unit, convert the signal
to radio frequency (RF), and communicate and reconvert the signal close to
the device being controlled. The radio frequency used on the Sanji IRX550
Remote Extender is crystal controlled to eliminate drift under any
temperature or environmental variance. The power supply is isolated from the
unit and is based at the wall socket. A problem normally associated with
common remote extenders is channel changing interference from the
neighbour's
extender. When the neighbour changes his channel it will also change the
channel on your system. The IRX550 reduces the switching interference
normally associated with remote extenders. The IRX550 anti interference
technology is patented and once the channel is set no external signals from
the neighbour will interfere or change the channel. The transmitter and
receiver are uniquely coded pairs.

Mvix Reviews
Preview of the
review on the Mvix multimedia player Mv-4000u by Deon Schoeman
South African Audio Video Magazine November 06 edition.
The concept of
a hard drive-based multimedia player is nothing new. Apple’s
ubiquitous iPod is hard drive-based, and many other portable
players, especially those requiring large amounts of storage
space (for video, primarily) rely on hard disc-based storage.
The MviX MV-4000U, however, is not aimed at the personal player
market. Instead, the unit’s primary focus is on the home AV
sector, where it allows users to consolidate their music, movies
and digital images in one location.
In simple terms, the MV-4000U is 3,5-inch IDA hard drive linked
to an innovative control interface. On the one hand, the
interface facilitates the transfer of content -- music, movies,
images -- onto the hard disc. On the other, it allows the
playback of that content, typically via an AV system.
The MV-4000U’s operating software allows broad compatibility
with a range of AV formats ensuring that a rich variety of
content can be centralised on the MviX hard drive, and then
played through a home theatre system. In theory, that’s a lot
more convenient than plugging your PC into the AV system, or
burning CD-Rs and DVDs.
Since it’s hardly bigger than an external hard drive, the
MV-4000U is conveniently portable. Linked to a PC running
Windows XP, the MviX will be identified as a storage device, and
content can be conveniently copied onto the drive.
The MviX’s broad format compatibility means that it copes with a
wide range of audio and video content, including
MPEG1/MPEG2/MPEG4 video, DivX 3.11, 4x and 5x, XviD, and ISO
images of DVDs. Audio formats supported include MP3, Ogg Vorbis,
WMA, AC3 and DTS pass-through, and more. It also shows JPEG
images, but disappointingly, formats such as PNG, GIF and TIFF
are not supported.
The MV-4000U can be linked to an AV system. The array of outputs
is quite comprehensive, and spans composite, S-Video and
component video outputs, as well as analogue stereo and both
coaxial and Toslink digital audio outputs.
Interestingly, the MV-4000U claims to offer video upscaling to
1920 x 1080i, or 1280 x 720p. It’s also both PAL and
NTSC-capable.
Switching on the MV-4000U is as simple as hitting the power
button on the front fascia. From there, just about everything is
controlled using the remote control handset, in conjunction with
the MviX’s onscreen, menu-based graphical user interface (GUI).
That interface makes finding and selecting content easy, as well
as providing access to the set-up screens. In practice, the MviX
worked perfectly straight out of the box, and using it was so
intuitive that I never needed to consult the manual.
At this stage, it’s also interesting to note that the US MviX
website not only provides news on the latest updates and
firmware (the latter containing patches, fixes and format
updates), but also a knowledge base where users can air their
views and raise any concerns.
The particular example I had on test included a 250 GB hard
drive, and came already preloaded with a substantial amount of
audio and video material. In the case of the latter, some of the
movies were compressed in DivX mode, while others had simply
been duplicated in their entirety. The music files were
typically MP3-encoded.
I have to confess that I didn’t expect too much from the
MV-4000U. I thought that actual performance would remind me too
much of what happens when you try and use a PC as a source of AV
material: the concept is good, but the execution stinks.
However, in practice, the little MviX turned out to be one of
the surprises of my reviewing year.
Let’s talk about the video performance first. Although the
player offers composite and S-Video outputs, it’s wise to ignore
the composite socket completely: dull colours, poor contrast and
soft edges made for disappointing performance.
S-Video is much better, offering crisper edges and improved
focus, smoother rendering on fast-moving images with no sign of
any artefacts, richer hues and a much improved contrast level.
However, if you’re serious about your video, and your system is
compatible, stick to the component interface.
As it turns out, the promised upsampling isn’t just a pipe
dream: the MviX really improves the video signal delivery, and
produced a quite brilliant video picture.
Not only was the image much sharper and better defined, with
close attention to fine detail, but the colours appeared to have
more life and verve. Bright hues were well controlled, with no
sign of the ‘bleed’ effect often found on lesser appliances.
Unfortunately there is no HDMI or DVI facility, but having seen
the talents of the MV-4000U in the company of mainly analogue
components, it’s a moot point whether users of this highly
affordable player will really miss the all-digital output.
On the sonic front, the MviX is a sympathetic purveyor of MP3
files: somehow, it manages to grasp the essence of the original
despite that format’s compression techniques. The surround
soundtracks of movies are flawlessly retained, and passed on for
processing to my Yamaha AV amplifier.
Finally, the MV-4000U can display digital images, and can even
be set up to show a series of images in a slideshow sequence,
complete with background music. Neat!
So, for a very modest outlay, you get a multimedia player that
will allow you to store all your audio, video and still images.
Not only that, but the content is easily and simply accessed via
the MviX’s menu system. And when hooked up to a home theatre
system, it can deliver surprisingly good sound and picture
quality.
What did I miss? Well, it would be great to make the content on
the MV-4000U available across a wired or wireless network. The
player seems almost made for such a feature, and I can only hope
that its creators consider an upgrade or an uprated model with
this facility in the near future.
But that’s my only gripe: for the rest, the MviX MV-4000U offers
a compact, affordable and user-friendly solution to storing and
accessing a variety of digital content. Deon Schoeman
