on the battlefield of ideas, winning requires moving toward the sound of the guns. newt gingrich The Tennessee Retail Association was founded over fifty-five years ago to advocate before the government of Tennessee on behalf of its member companies and organizations. The mission of the TRA is to work for the protection, promotion and prosperity of the retail industry in Tennessee. Retail is a $70 billion industry in Tennessee that employs 315,000 Tennesseans and pays over $7 billion in wages and salaries each year. The Tennessee Retail Association represents businesses across the state including grocers, chain drug pharmacies, restaurants, direct marketers, financial services companies and general merchandise stores. The TRA educates the law and policymakers of Tennessee on the needs and concerns of the retail industry. The TRA is a non-profit trade association supported by membership investment dues. The association is governed by a Board of Directors representing the wide variety of retailers and businesses in Tennessee.
