Welcome to Theta
THETA invites suitably qualified organisations to submit proposals for the following services:
Communications and Marketing Partner who will assist the Theta to implement its communication strategy. Included will be, but not limited to the following (Ref: CMP2008):
improving and facilitate public relations;
developing newsletters and brochures as required;
developing, designing and printing of the annual report;
expected to market and create awareness of Theta and its mandate nationally;
fulfill a media liaison role and liaise with Theta’s targeted audience;
prepare articles for publishing and airing and
prepare articles for publishing in the Theta “Training Matters” newsletter which is produced quarterly
Research Partner Services provider who will assist it with its research projects and activities and build the internal research capabilities of the Theta. The project scope includes but is not limited to the following: (Ref: RPS2008)
Assisting the Theta with scoping research projects;
Carrying out research projects of the Theta;
Developing sector needs analysis reports based on empirical evidence and research; and
Developing and managing a proper knowledge database system.
No briefing session will be held. Closing date for the submission of proposal: 12 August 2007. Cancellation and Reissue of Invitation to Tender NEW VENTURE CREATION (Tender No: NVC 2008R)
Notice is hereby given that Tender No. NVC2008 as advertised on 2 March 2008 has been cancelled and reissued as Tender No. NVC 2008R Potential service providers who have submitted proposals previously,are requested to resubmit their proposal as outlined below.
Theta seeks to appoint a Services SETA or any SETA-accredited provider with the new venture creation learnership ID 23953
in accreditation scope to assist in building the capacity of young people who are interested in establishing businesses within the THETA sector.
The following are the expected outcomes of
this RFP: (1) New Venture Creation areas for THETA sector established (2) THETA
stakeholders awareness and support for the New Venture Creation(3) 250 youth set up in their own businesses
in the THETA sector business (4) 80% of the learners successfully complete the
project (5) Mentorship.

The Tourism, Hospitality & Sport Education & Training Authority (THETA), a statutory body established in terms of Skills Development Act, No. 97 of 1998, seeks to address the management skills shortage identified within the travel and tourism, sports, recreation and fitness, hospitality and conservation and tourist guiding sectors. The main purpose of this intervention is to develop the management skills of historically disadvantaged beneficiaries that are either at entry into management, supervisory or functional to increase their prospects of upward mobility.
THETA is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified CHE and DoE registered service provider to offer a practical, integrated learning experience to develop overall understanding of the industry, business acumen and enhance the participants’ leadership and managerial competencies on either of the three levels, in the following programmes accredited by HEQC:

THETA has, over the past 18 months, followed an extended
process to review its existing qualifications framework. It
is envisaged, if all goes well, that the new qualification
framework should be registered on the NQF by March 2007, and
the extension of THETA accreditation scope with SAQA

Unclaimed learner certificates
THETA has done an evaluation on learner certificates that
have not been claimed by the Providers or returned by
Providers that no longer have contact details for past
learners.
Unclaimed certificates can be obtained from Ivy Kgaladi at
THETA via the following process:
1. A written request for your certificate can be directed to
Ivy@theta.org.za.
2. Copy of ID to be either e-mailed or faxed to Ivy Kgaladi
on 011 – 803 6702 before the release of the certificate can
be authorized.
The current list of unclaimed learner certificates can be
accessed as follows - select Certificates from the ETQA menu
and select the "Unclaimed" sub menu.

To access the facility, first click on "Log on To
Database". The Theta Database Login Page will appear; click on "Provider
Accreditation" and proceed by following the instructions for each step.

Significant progress has been made in generating Qualification
Frameworks, Qualifications and Unit Standards during 2005.
In support of the qualification generation
process conducted by the 5 SGB's, THETA is presenting an opportunity for
you to provide input on the work done to date. This input will form an
important part of the consultative process that the NSB regulations
require of SGB's who are proposing new or reviewed standards. Your input
in this regard will be highly appreciated.

The THETA system is set up in such a way
that the ETQA is only prompted to print certificates for completed
Learnerships, Full Qualifications and Skills Programmes.
Where learners have completed a combination of unit standards, which do
not represent a formally registered skills programme or qualification,
the system will not automatically generate a Statement of Achievement
for these programmes.
Providers are required to notify THETA of the specific learners for whom
THETA must issue Statements of Achievements.
